Menuly Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 21, 2026 · App: Menuly (com.menuly.app)
Menuly (“we”, “the app”) helps you scan a restaurant menu and get an AI dish recommendation. This policy explains what data we use and why.
1. Information we process
- Camera images (on device): Used only to read menu text with on-device OCR. We do not upload raw photos to our servers by default — only the extracted menu text is sent for recommendations.
- Menu text: Sent to our API (Cloudflare Worker) and processed by an AI model (via Replicate) to generate a dish recommendation.
- Mood / notes / language: Sent with the menu text so recommendations match your preference.
- Local history: Past suggestions are stored on your device (Room database). They are not synced to our servers.
2. Permissions
- Camera — scan menus
- Internet — call the Menuly API for AI recommendations
3. How we use data
We use menu text and your selected mood solely to generate and improve the in-app recommendation experience. We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your menu scans for advertising.
4. Third-party processors
- Cloudflare — hosts the Menuly API
- Replicate — runs the AI model that generates recommendations
These providers process data only to fulfill the request. Do not include personal identifiers in menu notes.
5. Data retention
- On-device history remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- API requests are processed to return a recommendation and are not used to build a personal profile.
6. Children’s privacy
Menuly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children’s data.
7. Security
API traffic uses HTTPS. Still, avoid putting passwords, payment details, or sensitive personal data into chat notes.
8. Your choices
- Deny camera permission — scanning will not work
- Clear app data / uninstall to remove local history
